A unified Model Definition Language (MDL) developed in the scope of the EU DDMoRe project aims at facilitating easy uptake by modellers experienced in languages such as NONMEM (NMTRAN), Monolix (MLXTRAN), BUGS, etc. The MDL is set up to capture the definition of drug models together with their parameters and data. The MDL is split into a Model Coding Language (MCL) to describe quantitative models and a supplementary Task Execution Language (TEL) to describe how the input from the MCL will be used to generate the desired output. The MDL editor is an xText-based application for writing MDL scripts and converting them into an internal format for further processing.
